Seems like every programmer who talks about programming isn't happy about programming programs.

Do you think having an IT degree would help my job prospects for web programming/development?

MRS RUSSY RUSSY ..... YOU HAVE BECOME MY MORNING ☕ 😎☺👍. I EARNED A "GROW WITH GOOGLE - UDACITY FRONT END WEB DEV SCHOLARSHIP CHALLENGE FOR INTERMEDIATE DEVELOPERS. THE PROBLEM IS THAT I AM AN ABSOLUTE BEGINNER. THEY ONLY CHOSE 15,000 OUT OF 100,000++ APPLICANTS FOR A 3 MONTH ONLINE 🌎 WORLDWIDE BOOTCAMP. THEN THEY GRADUATED ONLY 5,000 WORLDWIDE STUDENTS OUT OF THAT 15,000 TO EARN THE 6 MONTH NANODEGREE. I WAS CHOSEN. I HAVE UNTIL OCT24,2018 TO COMPLETE ALL PROJECTS OR I LOSE THE NANODEGREE. WEB DEVELOPMENT IS CLEARLY ONLY FOR THE DO OR DIE PEOPLE. TRY 70% DEBUGGING AND 30% WRITING CODE 😂 LMBO. IT IS NOT FOR THE MEDIOCRE. I AM LEARNING THAT I REFUSE TO QUUUUIIIITTTT AND THAT I WILL KEEP DEBUGGING, EVEN THO I MAY BECOME SUPER FRUSTRATED W/ BROKEN CODE. I CLOSED MY COMPUTER REPAIR BUSINESS SO THAT I CAN STUDY FULL-TIME. WE (WEB DEVS) ARE BECOMING THE NEW DOCTORS, LAWYERS, AND PRIESTS ON THE PLANET LOL😎. KEEP CODING EVERYBODY .... ABC=ALWAYS BE CODING 😎😠👍😕😒☺😁!!!

Did you ever have to or was required to build anything or code from scratch without resources?

Is it possible to only work from home as a web designer?

OOoo yees so true, also to add on your words, every demanding IT job such as server admin, system admin, network eng aint for the faint hearted. This jobs require problem solving, troubleshooting skills and most important of all is patience. Patience with your mind, patience when doing research and patience towards your colleagues(mostly colleagues who always seem to break things). Another skill set is a "not giving up mentality" as you may not always figure out problems as soon as they come in but always remember "what doesn't work today can and always will work out tomorrow!!!

I appreciate this video. I am questioning whether my move to Web Devt is a good idea or not bc although my background is CS, I’m honestly pursuing this option because of the flexibility I think web developers have, ie the ability to work remotely and from anywhere. I am a BA right now and just want to transition out of it while still being technical but taking my SkillCrush course, I think there is much more too it. Don’t get me wrong I love the puzzle solving aspect and feel overjoyed when I am able to solve it, so I know what you’re talking about! Just appreciate you being honest about WDevt and all that it entails!

Do you freelance ? Or do you work for a company ?
  • busyrand
Awesome video and topic. I think it's great for people to be honest with themselves and search inward for whether or not this field is for them. Everything you said about the job appeals to me. The truth is, some people might be better off pursuing a different aspect that relates to their interests. Sales, and design are strong options too.

I’m currently learning front end and the feeling I got when I solved my CSS issues is not even describable! 😫 I would be lying if I said it was easy and I didn’t feel like giving up when it came to JavaScript but, pushing through and getting that lightbulb moment is bliss. 😅👏

    this is good content

Thank you for this! I’m currently in school studying Computer Science and i’ve been heavily exposed to coding but i realize it’s not really all i want to do and I do get anxiety every time i’m working on a project & things don’t work. I’m really interested in UX design and the visual aspect of tech. Is computer science still the right major for me?
